So here's a thing. Burnout: Dominator has a pretty great soundtrack. You've got your Fratellis, your LCD Soundsystem and your innumerable studenty rock-punk bands where the lead singer doesn't quite have a nice enough voice and so sings in slightly dumb but unique! About four hours into playing Dominator I was tearing through the streets while shouting along to Chelsea Dagger because I'm a terrible human being, when I noticed they'd altered it and censored the word 'hell'. I was instantly fascinated. This is a game where it's not just an option but a necessity for you to drive down the wrong side of the street, ram your opponents and detonate your own car without thought to innocents caught in the blast, but they don't want you hearing the word 'hell'.
Burnout: Dominator is the next instalment in the thoroughly enjoyable Burnout series. Its predecessor, Burnout 3: Takedown was widely regarded as the pinnacle of the Burnout series having integrated destruction and mayhem to a title renowned for some very fast and very dangerous driving action. So how do you improve on the best? Well Dominator has more than a few tweaks of its own. In come a Rivals mode, a 'maniac' mode and a brand new World Tour option, out go the highly agreeable Crash mode and the online multiplayer option. So where does this leave us? The game engine itself is pretty much the way you will remember it from previous Burnout incarnations.

You drive cars, reach insane speeds, dodge traffic, earn boost by driving like a maniac and take down your rivals. For reasons unknown, but perhaps in an attempt to make Dominator different from the games before it, Crash mode is nowhere to be seen. Instead we have Maniac mode, which is pretty much as described. You drive as dangerously as possible in an attempt to achieve as high a score as possible.
